Our mission

We will educate medical students to become outstanding lab technician who have skills, knowledge, and passion to improve public health of Cambodian people through in-class education, practice and clerkship within medical laboratories and hospital laboratories.

Education Program

Medical Laboratory Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Puthisastra provides health education to student to become a laboratory technician in order to obtain Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory.

Medical Laboratory Program was designed to offer students with technical practices and theories under close supervision from lecturers as well as clerkship within hospital laboratories and medical laboratory institutes. Students will clearly understand both theory and practice because all lecturers are experienced with many year of teaching experience. Moreover, within UP laboratories, there will be sufficient reagents and equipment for students to practice. To strengthen capacity of students, UP also have a lot of MoU with hospital laboratories and medical laboratory institutes where students can learn and understand precisely based on real practice.

Schedule for Classes

Medical Laboratory Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Puthisastra will follow the semester system. That is: there will be 2 semesters per academic year. The Medical Laboratory program will be a 3-year program. The program will be studied in morning or afternoon from Monday to Saturday.

Course Instruction

All courses to be offered for Medical Laboratory program will be taught in Khmer and English or a combination of both.

Admission Criteria

Any student who graduated from high school can apply to study at the Department of Medical Laboratory. Selection is through a selection committee at the UP or through the University of Puthisastra entrance examination.

Graduation Criteria

To complete the program, students must pass all the courses required by the national curriculum, and pass University’s exit examination.

Degree Offered

Students who successfully complete all requirements in this program will be graduated with the “Associated Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology”.

Future Career

After graduation, students can work in hospital, community diagnostic medical laboratories, medical research or Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).  Other career opportunity include forensic science, laboratory supply business, private practice, teaching and research in the medical laboratory related sciences.
