Career Opportunities

Students can apply for their doctorate to become a doctor in the state code, which can be used in health care institutions or at public hospitals throughout Cambodia. Students can also apply for this degree to apply for a job at a private hospital or open a personal consultation and treatment room. In addition, students can use it to apply for further medical education or apply for scholarships to study abroad.

You may either practice medicine as a generalist or study further and specialize in any of a huge number of fields such as internal medicine, general surgery, cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, neurology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otorhinolaryngology, obstetrics & gynecology, pediatrics. Apart from pursuing a career as a clinician or surgeon, you could also look for a career in medical research as a medical scientist, or in public health. Students can use their MD degree to apply for government employment (e.g., Ministry of Health), to work in public or private hospitals or clinics, or to open their own practice.

International Relationships

The UP Faculty of Medicine represents Cambodia and is the only Medical School from a private University in the South-East Asia region selected to participate in a Collaborative Network on Competency-Based Medical Education led by Harvard University, Boston, USA. Public Universities from Lao PDR and Vietnam are also part of the Network, which aims to improve and modernize medical education in the region.

Facilities

Our SIMULATION LABORATORY has very good and modern mannequins/equipment which allows the students to receive tailored simulation practice training in each academic year before starting the clinical practice on real patients at partner hospitals. The Pre-hospital training includes skill stations, workshops and case scenarios. UP is the only medical school in Cambodia to offer a structured simulation training program.

Graduation Criteria

Students must pass all the courses required by the national curriculum, prepare and defend a dissertation and pass the national exit exam. The exit exam is made of a multiple-choice question exam and an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).
