On 23 March 2026, the University of Puthisastra (UP) had the honor of hosting the opening ceremony to formally welcome professors and students from Showa Medical University (SMU), Japan, for a one-week Friendship and Cultural Exchange Program held in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Chea Sin, Vice-President of Academic Affairs of University of Puthisastra, Prof. Yoshiko Kudo, Vice Director of the International Exchange Center, and Dr. Michael Myers, Associate Professor at the International Exchange Center of Showa Medical University.
This exchange program, organized by the Relations and Partnerships Unit in close collaboration with Showa Medical University, is scheduled to take place from 23 to 28 March 2026 across Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
Throughout the program, students from both institutions will engage in academic workshops to explore similarities and differences between healthcare and education systems. The program also includes a workshop on the Japan-Cambodia international cooperation project, educational and cultural site visits, and community engagement activities in Siem Reap, providing participants with valuable cross-cultural and experiential learning opportunities.
It is anticipated that this exchange program will foster enriching experiences, meaningful connections, enhance mutual understanding, and create lasting friendships among participants, while equipping them with valuable knowledge and skills for future development.
